In the packaging field, what do side strip, grey board, and surface paper respectively refer to, what are their functions, and what is the relationship between their positions?
Side strip, grey board, and surface paper, these terms refer to several components of a gift box. A gift box is made by gluing the surface paper to the grey board and then slotting and folding. Taking the book-shaped box as an example, the book-shaped box is composed of a board and its surrounding parts.
The lid, top, spine, and bottom of the book-shaped box are unfolded into one piece. The grey board is V-grooved and glued to the die-cut surface paper, which is the outer layer of paper, and the inside is glued to the other side of the grey board.
The side strip is the part between the top and bottom, which is formed by V-grooving the grey board with two sides glued, surrounded by four sides. The grey board is the middle part of the handmade gift box. The grey board is relatively thick, with 2mm, 2.5mm, and 3mm. The hardness of the box relies on it to support.
Finally, the paper is the paper glued to the outside of the grey board in the box, generally relatively thin, about 200 GSM. If there is no grey board, the box cannot be made.
